FROM BELLA BOO TO DOGZILLA

Our Story

Dogzilla began years before it had a name—with homemade chicken breast treats for our Bella Boo, and a desire to know what we were feeding the dogs we love.

THE FIRST TREATS

It started with Bella Boo.

Bella Boo, the dog who inspired our first homemade treats

Bella Boo, where our story began

We began by dehydrating sliced chicken breast for Bella Boo. It was a simple way to make a treat ourselves. As we learned more about ingredients and preservation, we wanted to explore other parts of the animal and other ways to make treats.

A few years later, we moved to rural Merlin, Ontario. We raised Cornish Cross chickens for our own table, kept laying hens, and grew large gardens. We bought a freeze dryer to help preserve what we raised and grew.

A NEW IDEA

Making use of the whole bird.

When we processed our chickens, we saved the organ meat and began freeze drying it as treats for Arietta, our Cane Corso and the real Dogzilla. We liked knowing exactly what went into each batch.

We took little bags along when visiting family and friends. The dogs went wild for them. Soon their people began asking us to make more.

THE SNIFF TEST

They remembered us.

Before long, the dogs knew what a visit from Jeff and Monique might mean. They sniffed our hands for treats. Some paced, some whined, and some barked their orders—even on days when we hadn’t brought a bag.

Word spread, and what began in our kitchen grew into a hobby we enjoyed for several years. We had long hoped to make it a business. A change in our lives finally gave us the time to do it.

WHAT GUIDES US TODAY

Real food, made with care.

We make single-ingredient, freeze-dried treats in small batches. We seek out quality ingredients from Chatham-Kent packers whenever possible and are clear about what’s in each variety. Our goal is to keep improving, grow Dogzilla thoughtfully, and share these treats with more pets across Canada.

Like every pet parent, we wish we could keep our dogs beside us forever. We can’t promise more years together, but we can put care into the treats we give them and joy into the moments we share.

“The dogs are our customers. We just make their parents pay for the treats.”
